Russia will not abuse Nord Stream 2, Merkel assures Ukraine — — -Brussels (Brussels Morning) German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Sunday, assuring him that completion of Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would not affect Ukraine.
Zelensky described the pipeline as a “geopolitical weapon of the Kremlin” and warned that it presents a threat to security as it will strengthen Russia’s influence in the region, according to BBC reporting on Monday.
