Avoiding a “Green Iron Curtain” in the path to recovery and to a sustainable transition — — -Prague (Brussels Morning) The European Union announced an ambitious climate change plan to push forward its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. The draft proposals, which include taxing jet fuel and progressively banning petrol and diesel-powered cars, will need to be approved by the member states and the EU parliament and could take years of negotiations. They could also face fierce opposition, both from affected industries and from eastern member states who rely heavily on coal.
